What a Moolies trip actually looks like.
Cocktails and long dinners. A sunset cruise instead of a sunset selfie. A pool day that isn't interrupted by anyone. A spa treatment nobody has to book around a school pickup.
Some mums stay close to where the kids are — nearby, keeping half an eye on the group chat, mostly not needed. Others ditch the itinerary entirely and go their own way, somewhere the kids aren't even booked. Both count. Both are Moolies.
Either way, it's the same group of women who got each other through parent-teacher interviews and formal dress dramas, now doing something for themselves.
Why it's landed in Noosa.
The Sunshine Coast has been building this market for years — operators noticing groups of women booking trips that have nothing to do with a wedding, a hens party or a milestone birthday. Just a reason worth celebrating, and a river worth celebrating it on.
Noosa fits the trip better than most. It's civilised without trying hard to be. Long lunches over big nights. A cruise over a club. The kind of pace where a group of mums who've earned a proper break can actually get one.
What that looks like on Catalina.
The whole boat, booked exclusively for your group — no other guests, no shared deck, nobody else's night bleeding into yours. Up to 150 people if the whole year group's coming together, or a tighter charter if it's just the close crew. A DJ on board either way, golden hour doing exactly what it does over the river, and the run of the show built entirely around your group.
A sunset session on the open deck. A long lunch that runs longer than planned. Whichever shape the celebration takes, it's a private charter, and it's covered in full below.

What the mums say.
“We have enjoyed several wonderful Moolies celebrations on the Catalina over the years, and it really is the perfect way to spend an afternoon on the river. Delicious cocktails, scrumptious food, fabulous music and plenty of dancing - all while having so much fun with great friends!
It’s such a special way to celebrate making it through the HSC & school years with our children and to mark the end of what is such a big chapter for everyone.
The staff on the Catalina are always fantastic and incredibly accommodating - nothing is ever too much trouble. We’ve been lucky enough to have beautiful weather most years, but even the year it poured with rain, it certainly didn’t dampen our spirits and we still managed to have an absolute ball!
We have so many happy memories from our Moolies celebrations on the Catalina and couldn’t recommend it more highly.”
— Melissa, December
When it happens.
Moolies runs on the same calendar as schoolies — the back half of November into early December, shifting a little each year with graduation and exam dates. Noosa gets busy that fortnight from both directions, so dates get booked out early.
Twelve years. A boat, a sunset, and the people who actually understand what you just got through.
